The Royal Borough of Greenwich wants to hear from residents about its plans to improve public health services. This comes after a consultation in 2023 where over 700 people shared their experiences with council run health provisions. These changes will improve services that support better physical and mental wellbeing, and provide treatment services for smoking, sexual health and drugs and alcohol.
Councillor Mariam Lolavar, Cabinet Member for Health, Adult Social Care and Borough of Sanctuary said: “We know that having equal access to public health services is essential so that everyone is empowered and has the opportunity to live the healthiest life they can. Unfortunately, we also know that issues like mental health, smoking, drugs and alcohol impact our most vulnerable.”
“It’s time to tear down the obstacles, give a voice to residents and rebuild a system that works for everyone. We heard you in the previous survey, and I hope these changes are what you wanted to see so that you and your loved ones can get the right support to live well in Greenwich.”
Feedback from the survey in 2023 highlighted a few topics for change, with the need for a more streamlined service and more convenient appointment options being a priority.
Based on responses, the council is proposing the following.
More work will be done to promote and publicise public health services and raise awareness of what is available.
You will only need to tell your story once when referred for support, as teams will work closely together.
The public health services you use will be able to share your personal data with each other, always with consent, so that you don’t have to repeat your story.
All our public health services will be available via a single phone number and/or a website.
Your appointment choice will be offered at convenient times, over the phone, face-to-face and online.
For any sexual reproductive health services, all appointments will be bookable online, over the phone, or face-to-face.
As a resident, you will be more involved in influencing how public health services are delivered.
We want to hear your views on these proposals. Once the survey closes on Tuesday 14 October, the council will continue to gather feedback from you as new and updated public health services are developed across the borough.
Have your say and let us know your thoughts.

The survey will close at 11:59pm on 14 October 2025.
