This October, the Royal Horticultural Society is inviting families to get stuck in for a week of ‘Spooktacular Half Term Fun’ at each of the five RHS Gardens for selected dates from 21 October to 5 November.

In the lead up to Halloween the RHS Gardens (RHS Wisley in Surrey, RHS Bridgewater in Greater Manchester, RHS Harlow Carr in Yorkshire, RHS Hyde Hall in Essex and RHS Rosemoor in Devon) will be offering up a spine tingling array of spooky activities. From atmospheric garden trails and pumpkin painting to storytelling, and even encounters with beasts, the Spooktacular half term event promises a hauntingly fun experience for all the family.
RHS Garden Bridgewater, 21 – 29 October
Sow your very own spooky plant pot with herbs to take home, hand paint a trick or treat tote bag to fill with goodies, and get creative with clay pumpkin carving. Join Colour the Clouds for interactive story time, have a go at Rangoli – an ancient art that dates back centuries, and embark on a garden adventure.

RHS Garden Hyde Hall, 21 – 29 October
Encounter extraordinary animals with Zoolab, get carried away with Mike Dodsworth’s interactive storytelling around the garden, and unleash your creative side in a Halloween crafting workshop.

RHS Garden Harlow Carr, 28 October – 5 November
Come face to face with fascinating creatures with Zoolab’s ethical animal encounters, delve into the Halloween spirit by joining a crafts workshop, and unearth the mysteries of the garden with the Garden Detectives. Elsewhere ignite your creativity in Forest School, using natural materials to get crafting.

RHS Garden Rosemoor, 21 – 29 October
Unearth autumnal delights on a garden trail, let your imagination loose and transform a pumpkin into a woodland creature, or get stuck in with spooky craft workshops. Don’t miss Witch Hazel’s Halloween Disco for an evening of party games and dancing, fancy dress and face painting.

RHS Garden Wisley, 21 – 29 October
Follow a family trail around the garden to solve a spooky crossword puzzle, take part in ‘ghostly’ seed planting and creepy crawly-themed craft activities, or make your own candle with Surrey Bees to light up dark autumn nights. Plant garlic to ward off vampires and join Chris Jarvis (CBeebies) for his fun filled show, Wonky Apples!
