Leading parcel delivery company HIVED has announced that it has opened a new depot site in West London as it scales its tech-enabled logistics network to meet growing demand and position itself for wider expansion across the UK.
The parcel delivery industry is growing quickly, driven by the explosion of the e-commerce market. It is expected that the number of the deliveries in the UK will double by 2030. HIVED’s new site at SEGRO Park Hayes can handle up to 40,000 parcels per day to help meet the growing delivery needs of Londoners, and will initially employ 45 staff.
Murvah Iqbal, CEO and Co-founder of HIVED, said:
“HIVED was founded with a commitment to improve the parcel delivery experience by putting end consumers first with our tech-enabled platform. With our innovative parcel sortation system, which can intelligently flex to accommodate rapid increases in parcel volume as expected in the next year for our service, alongside heavier diversification of postcodes, this expanded site allows us to be all the more effective and efficient in delivering quality to Londoners.
This latest expansion is also proof that our multi-site logistics model, with purpose-built technology designed for the e-commerce age, is scalable nationally. The next step for HIVED will be to replicate the same levels of service we provide to retailers and customers across other parts of the UK.”
The opening of the depot follows a record Q1 for HIVED, which has seen growing demand from major retailers including Nespresso, John Lewis, COS, Arket, and Uniqlo.
The launch of the new depot is the first of a number of planned site expansions in the UK. HIVED already operates a middle mile delivery network across the UK, delivering parcels from distribution centres of major retail partners to its depots in London, and it plans to scale its network to new cities in the UK over the next 18 months.
HIVED is unique as the only delivery company to offer fully electric end-to-end delivery, and sustainability will continue to be at the heart of its future growth. With a model that can reduce delivery emissions by up to 76%, HIVED is one of the first companies in the UK to acquire electric HGVs for long-haul, and it is building nationwide charging infrastructure to support its haulage network.
Commenting on selecting SEGRO Park Hayes as the site for the new depot, Murvah Iqbal said:
“We chose our new depot site at SEGRO Park Hayes because it is the perfect location for us to meet demand from customers right across London, complementing our established depot site in East London. The site has an abundance of clean electricity, meaning we can make use of fast charging infrastructure to quickly turn around our fleet of HGVs and get them back on the road.”
Gareth Baker, Director, Western Corridor at SEGRO, said:
“SEGRO Park Hayes is a unique development that integrates living and working space, driving both sustainability and economic growth. It’s great to see the development fully let and our vision for a dynamic, thriving community come to life.
“To meet HIVED’s power requirements, we are reallocating surplus power from another unit to ensure efficient operation. This is just one example of how we go above and beyond to meet our customers’ needs.”
Last year, HIVED reached a major milestone after delivering its three millionth parcel since being launched in 2021. The business has further commercial partnerships in the pipeline, with parcel volumes expected to continue to grow exponentially.
