Housebuilders at Cala Homes (Thames) have provided Manby Lodge Infant School with a renovated kitchen to enhance its facilities, which its pupils require ahead of the new school year.
Manby Lodge Infant School, a short walk from Cala’s Brooklands Grove development, required a refreshed kitchen area as its previous space was rundown and couldn’t meet the school’s needs with the introduction of its wraparound service, Wraparound Rainbows, which provides the children with a range of activities, food, and a space to have fun before and after school.
Overall, the transformation took two weeks and included a complete remodel, featuring a freshly painted area, brand new worktops and kitchen units for staff to prepare pupils’ breakfast and snacks, an upgraded sink, and extra storage space for children’s activities and other necessary supplies. Additionally, the team refreshed the play area fencing, ensuring it was ready for the first day of term.
The upgrade was made possible thanks to Cala’s Community Pledge initiative at its Brooklands Grove development in Weybridge. The Community Pledge incorporates various tailored measures addressing specific community needs, including donations, volunteering, learning programmes, support initiatives and much more.
Helen Plummer, School Business Manager at Manby Lodge Infant School, said: “On behalf of our pupils and teachers, we are grateful to the team at Cala Homes for providing our students with access to a wraparound kitchen that benefits not only them but also our community. Thanks to their hard work, we’ve saved over £10,000, which enables us to invest further in resources for the children, which is truly invaluable.
Thanks to Cala Homes and its Community Pledge, we can now offer a more enriching environment for our school, where the children can socialise and further develop their learning outside of school hours, which has been enjoyed throughout the summer holidays and the start of the new term.”
