Inside Bets

Before we learn about the types of inside bets there are, let’s first look at what an inside bet is and where on the table they’re placed.

When looking at a Roulette table layout, you’ll see there’s a number grid with numbers ranging from 0 – 36, all in separate boxes either in red or black, apart from the zero(s) which is green or colourless, depending on the table. This is the section of the table layout where inside bets are placed and played. An inside bet focuses on the numbers found within the wheel, hence the name inside bet

All other boxes within the layout are classed as outside bet areas.

Inside Bet Types

  • Straight Up – This is what’s known when a player places a single betting chip or stack of chips onto one single number. This will need to be placed in the middle of the numbered box, without touching the edges. If the number bet wins the game, the player could see themselves winning 35:1, which is the highest winning odds within the inside bet category. A straight up bet can be placed on any number found within the inside bet section, 0 – 36.
  • Split – A bet comprised of two numbers, but can be played with just one betting chip. The betting chip(s) to make a split bet, will need to be placed on the border of any two numbers which are adjacent to each other on the layout. If either one of the numbers wins the game, the player will receive 17:1 odds. This means, for every chip placed, the winner will receive an additional 17 chips of the same value.
  • Corner – This bet is comprised of four numbers and from as little as one betting chip. The betting chip(s) will need to be placed in the cross-section of the number borders, where four number corners meet. If one of the four numbers wins the game, the player will receive 8:1 odds.

These are just three of the many inside bets players can place when playing a game of Roulette in person, online or virtually at a live-streamed table. The only question that remains is – will you be placing an inside bet at your next game?
