Saturday (30 August) saw a giant street parade in Ilford featuring artists from international theatre show STOMP and the Taylor Swift Eras Tour.

The spectacular ‘Big Small Wonders’ was the opening event for the Colours of Redbridge ‘Other Worlds’ programme (from August-October 2025) which saw thousands of local people come to see a 4-meter pedal-powered moving sculpture, giant scallop shells and ink-marbled flora and fauna which flooded the streets with colour.

The parade brought together different artists from the UK and abroad including internationally acclaimed organisations who have worked on the Taylor Swift Eras Tour and international phenomenon, STOMP. The parade also featured dozens of local community members, some carrying fans and flags they had designed, and some forming a street percussion band of vibrant samba drums and rediscovered objects, led by local music charity Drum Works.

Big Small Wonders was developed by a group of community members, inspired by land and sea. It reimagines our connection to nature, as the city landscape is overturned by abstract elements from the natural world, which are revealed at a large scale and unlike anything we’ve seen before. The parade encouraged audiences to consider our relationship with the natural world, and ensure we make space for nature in our day-to-day lives.
