93 incredible young people from the Scouts, including many from Hammersmith and Fulham, received their prestigious Jack Petchey Foundation Achievement Awards presented at a live event at Greenford Assembly Hall.
The live event celebrated Achievement Award winners aged 11-25 for their contributions to their unit, where winners received medallions and framed certificates from the Foundation along with a £300 grant for them to spend to benefit their unit.
In addition, 12 adults were awarded Leader Awards for demonstrating outstanding ability to motivate young people. They each received a medallion and a framed certificate.
The Jack Petchey Foundation has invested over £860k in Hammersmith and Fulham since funding started.
Councillor Salim Chowdhury, Mayor of Harrow, who handed out awards on the night, said: “It was an absolute pleasure to be here. I want to congratulate all the winners. JPF events like this are so inspiring. I look forward to the next one.”
Here is an inspiring story from one of our Achievement Award Winners:
Ruben Kingsmith, 13, attends 10th Fulham.
Ruben won the Jack Petchey Achievement Award for his dedication towards the Scouts. He has been a dedicated member of 10th Fulham since his Cub days, working hard to earn his Chief Scout Silver Award and now aiming for Gold. His loyalty, enthusiasm, and kindness shine through, from sharing patrol prizes to always living by the Scout promise. Recently, he was awarded a Commissioner’s Commendation for his quick thinking and calm response when giving first aid to his dad during a bike ride accident.
Ruben decided to spend his £300 Jack Petchey Achievement Award Grant on a trip with his Scout peers to a restaurant to experience a new cuisine.
