John Lewis has introduced two new premium food and drink destinations to its flagship London stores in time for the peak festive shopping season. The latest openings are in response to customers looking to combine shopping with socialising.

Warabi-Mochi Kamakura – John Lewis Oxford Street
In a European first, Warabi-Mochi Kamakura, a premium Japanese dessert brand specialising in matcha and warabi mochi, a traditional Japanese confection, has opened at John Lewis Oxford Street.

With 49 stores across Japan, and 20 stores across 10 other countries, Warabi-Mochi Kamakura is set to attract the brand’s international fans as well as introducing UK shoppers to its delicious concept.

Taking 450 sq ft at the entrance to the Waitrose Foodhall within John Lewis Oxford Street with seating for 12, Warabi-Mochi Kamakura is now serving their traditional soft chewy warabi mochi – served as classic sweets with kinako (roasted soy bean), black sesame and matcha and as modern warabi mochi drinks in matcha, coffee and strawberry. Orders are available to enjoy at the cafe or to take away.

Chin Teow, Founder, Warabi-Mochi Kamakura UK, said: “The launch of Warabi-Mochi Kamakura in John Lewis Oxford Street marks a milestone moment for our brand and for lovers of Japanese delicacies. This flagship opening introduces centuries-old Japanese flavours to local and international visitors at one of London’s most iconic shopping destinations.”

Lanson’s Champagne Bar – Peter Jones, Sloane Square
A brand new 250 sq ft Champagne Bar has opened in the atrium of Peter Jones, Sloane Square. Customers are invited to step into the sparkle of the season to discover a Christmas-themed champagne experience. The pop-up festive bar has 20 stools around a central bar as well as additional small tables, and can be enjoyed throughout the Christmas period, until early January.

The menu showcases Lanson’s iconic cuvées and delightful hidden gems. Available for walk-ins only, the bar is a beautiful luxury centrepiece within Peter Jones’ iconic atrium, and is open everyday from midday through to shop close.

Katie Papakonstantinou, Director of Services & Hospitality for John Lewis said: “We know our customers love discovering something new and the launch of Lanson’s Champagne Bar and Warabi-Mochi Kamakura offer something truly special. What better way to celebrate a successful Christmas shopping trip than with a glass of chilled champagne or a delicious Japanese dessert?”
