JUST ONE IN TEN PEOPLE HOLD POSITIVE VIEW OF MET POLICE

PUBLIC faith in the MET Police has been badly damaged by the recent series of scandals engulfing the force, a new poll indicates.

A People Polling for GB News poll* revealed just one in ten people hold a positive view of the country’s largest force.

The finding is the latest blow for the beleaguered MET and comes in the week of a damning report by Baroness Louise Casey and her review team.

Meanwhile, the GB News commissioned poll also indicated that the public felt the Parliamentary probe Boris Johnson faced this week was fair.

Only 11 percent – just over one in ten – believe it to be “unfair”. There are, however, clear differences on the issue between Tory and Labour voters. Whereas 27 percent of Tories think it is unfair – only 4 percent of Labour voters were found to hold that view.

Despite Rishi Sunak enjoying a relatively good week, the highlight being his Brexit bill passing through the Commons with a large majority, his party still trails massively, according to People Polling.
On voting intentions, they found Labour at 43 percent and the Tories at 22 – meaning Keir Starmer retains a commanding 21 percent lead as we head towards Easter.

And voters seemingly much prefer the idea of Mr Starmer in Number Ten. When asked who they felt would make the best Prime Minister, 22 percent said the Labour leader compared to 16 percent for the current incumbent. But over a third – 36 percent – said they don’t rate either of them.

Commenting on the poll, politics expert Matthew Goodwin, said: “Labour continues to enjoy a commanding lead in the polls and remain on course for a majority at the election next year. This also comes before widespread coverage of Boris Johnson discussing Partygate which is likely to entrench his party’s negative image.

Speaking of negative image, we can also see just how much difficulty the Metropolitan Police is in, with large numbers of people across the country holding a negative view of the force.”
