Keen learners from across Brent took home awards for their achievements in everything from languages to employment diplomas as Brent Start delivered a night to remember last Wednesday.
Provided by Brent Council, the service provides courses for learning new skills, whether for employment or personal development, as well as training and adult learning, giving residents the opportunity to learn something new or brush up on existing skills.
Winners in this year’s categories included a woman who recently fled the war in Syria and went on to successfully complete an English Language course, a young man who spoke English as a second language and went on to do a degree in biomedical science, as well as other inspiring individuals who achieved certifications in hospitality and Skills for Work courses.
The evening’s entertainment was provided by Storm Academy’s dance group Veena, who performed an exciting medley of Bollywood and Bhangra dancing, which saw a lively end to the evening.
