In celebration of their 20th anniversary, TARU Arts are hosting Kidbrooke Carnival this Saturday 6th of July at Berkeley’s Kidbrooke Village in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. From 2-6pm, visitors can look forward to a fantastic day of exciting carnival processions, live music and performances, arts and crafts, plus delicious street food. TARU hosted their first successful carnival at Kidbrooke in 2004 so the community are eagerly anticipating their return to the South East London neighbourhood.

The day will consist of a community parade which includes music, drumming, dance and a costume procession leaving from Wingfield School, through Cator Park North, Pegler Square and finishing back in Cator Park. Over at Pegler Square, the little ones can enjoy face painting and a bouncy castle in the park. For something a little different, both parents and children can learn Capoeira, the Afro-Brazilian martial art combining dance, acrobatics and music – all in one. And it doesn’t end there – Artfix will host a variety of music, food and drink, plus fun art and craft workshops within their venue so there is truly something for everyone!
As a lead up to the carnival, TARU have been hosting a series of arts workshops in local schools teaching children how to create their own costumes, as well as free drop-in workshops at the Kidbrooke Community Hub to make carnival decorations ahead of the parade. As one of the sponsors of the carnival, Berkeley are proud to be involved in events like this which bring people together
