KING Charles will draw comfort from his faith as he battles cancer, according to royal author Robert Hardman.
He told GB News: “I think a lot of people think, ‘oh, dear, he’s only been on the throne a year and a half and now this’. I don’t think he will look at it like that.
“The clue was in that broadcast he did to the nation just hours after the death of the Queen, where he just talked about ‘I’ll serve for the remaining time God grants me’, that’s the sort of philosophy. He’s a religious man.
“We’ve always tended to look at his views on other faiths and that’s always been the headlines, his intention to be a defender of faith and all that sort of stuff, without actually looking at his own faith.
“He does have a sort of inner calm there and I think he’ll be drawing on it right now.”
In a discussion during Breakfast with Eamonn Holmes and Isabel Webster, he went on: “I think possibly a little overlooked this week is just the scale of what now lands on the Prince of Wales, William’s shoulders.
“There’s an enormous demand placed upon him because he effectively steps up to do a lot of the roles that Prince Charles, when he was Prince of Wales, was doing when the Queen was ill.
“She herself, as Princess Elizabeth, was doing when George VI six was ill was – you’re the outward facing leader of the Monarchy.
“Now on top of all that, the Princess of Wales is still recovering from her surgery at home with three young children.”
He added”: So, all this is coming together. It’s a lot for him, but he’ll rise to the challenge.”
