Property experts Sellhousefast.uk have looked at the top university cities in the UK in order to rank the best cities in the UK for students to rent property in.
The universities chosen both have the highest enrolment rates in the UK and consistently show up in tables ranking the best higher education institutions in terms of student experience. The average rent ranking is based on figures taken from home.co.uk’s property search tool while the data for number of properties in the vicinity of each university’s campus was taken from Zoopla.
Here are a few of the highlights:
- King’s College London is the worst UK university for student renters due to prohibitive rental rates near campus
- The University of Sheffield is the best UK university for student accommodation with an average reported rent rate of £863 pcm
- The University of Coventry comes in second in terms of average rental prices but first when it comes to the number of properties available
- King’s College London is the most expensive university on our list – definitely one to avoid for students looking to rent
- The University of Nottingham’s 24,587 undergraduate student enrolment figures translate to about 231 students for a single property!
- About 120 students for a single property near University of Edinburgh campus!
- 95 undergraduates battling it out for a single property near University of Manchester campus!
