Since alfresco dining returned on the 12th April, the race to bag a table has been well and truly on. Across London there has been strong demand for the capital’s unparalleled restaurant scene. At King’s Cross and Coal Drops Yard, the appetite for dining out has been significant, with 105,000 covers served and 360,000 dishes prepared in the destination’s restaurants in the four weeks since reopening alfresco.

With indoor reopening just around the corner, King’s Cross and Coal Drops Yard’s restaurants already have nearly 9,000 tables booked for the 21-23 May, the first weekend after reopening.

To help Londoners realise their dinner dreams, from Monday 17 May King’s Cross and Coal Drops Yard are launching the ‘Hot Ticket’ – an exclusive weekly giveaway to enable even the last-minute-booker to secure a coveted table on a Friday and Saturday night.

Every week, from 21 May and 19 June, a selection of booked-out restaurants will be offering visitors a chance to win a guaranteed table for the coming weekend. Each Monday morning the tables will be revealed on the King’s Cross social channels and winners, chosen at random, will be announced every Monday night. So whether you are trying to impress a date and just left booking too late, the Hot Ticket has you covered.

With 17 May just around the corner, the first ‘Hot Ticket’ week will see tables at German Gymnasium, Barrafina, Casa Pastor and Plaza Pastor all up for grabs. Those who don’t manage to secure the ‘Hot Ticket’ should fear not, as weekdays and daytimes still have availability, and a number of restaurants will still be allowing space for walk-ins.

What can ‘Hot Ticket’ diners get ready to enjoy?

German Gymnasium: Since reopening its terrace on 12th April, the restaurant has seen incredible demand with over 15,000 outside tables booked that month alone. From 17th May, it will be reopening its indoor spaces, the Grand Café and Restaurant, with 250 seats available throughout. Plus, from 25th May, gin-lovers will be able to enjoy the new summer terrace, The German Gin Garden. The beautiful botanical garden will be complete with tropical plants and flowers, in partnership with Monkey 47.

Barrafina: one lucky winner is going to get the chance to enjoy authentic Spanish tapas. Open for parties of 3-6 with over 40 covers across the dining bar and tables, you can choose from a varied a la carte menu, daily specials and the most beautiful seafood and seasonal ingredients you can imagine.

Casa Pastor: The place to head for Mezcal, tostadas, tacos and quesadillas after a busy week. Use your ‘Hot Ticket’ to dine on the finest Baja California style mariscos, the to-die-for beef short-rib sharer and enjoy the virtues of a tequila-slinging central bar.

Plaza Pastor: Feel the need for some Mexican courtyard vibes? Where all your tequila-based wishes can come true on the covered and heated terrace in Coal Drops Yard.
