Sustainability, technology, and mental health are just some of the inspirations behind the creative work on display as part of the Kingston School of Art Degree Show which kicks off with a celebratory opening event on Saturday 8 June from 1pm.
The highly anticipated show runs from 8 June to Friday 14 June, featuring an array of online and onsite exhibitions. Graduating students from the Foundation, Undergraduate, Grad Dip Creative Practice, MFA Fine Art, and MArch Architecture programs are set to showcase their exceptional talents.
The vibrant Knights Park campus will transform into an art gallery as industry experts, the local community, family, and friends gather to celebrate Kingston’s final-year students. The show will shine a spotlight on the Design School, the School of Arts, and the School of Creative and Cultural Industries, marking the beginning of a week-long exploration of the Kingston University students’ work.
Visitors will be treated to an eclectic mix of creative outputs including paintings, products, video, photography, and mixed-media exhibits, each reflecting the unique perspectives and studio-based ethos of Kingston’s emerging artists. The public is invited to immerse themselves in this dynamic celebration of art and design, witnessing firsthand the future of creative industries.
Dean of Kingston School of Art, Mandy Ure, praised the innovative and ambitious work on display at this year’s show. “The quality of work on display from Kingston School of Art students is always of the highest standard. This year is no exception with outstanding work showcased from the schools of Art, Design, and Creative and Cultural Industries,” she said.
“Throughout their degrees the students have developed their craft, absorbed analytical and theoretical thinking, and honed their practical skills to deliver the final projects seen at the degree show. Many of our graduates go on to prestigious careers in a huge variety of sectors, demonstrating the continuing value of arts education to the UK’s cultural and economic success on a global scale,” she said.
Work on display at the physical show is also featured on a bespoke website on which students from Kingston School of Art upload a range of work from their degree. The website encourages exploration of student work through a unique interface designed to enhance the art show experience.
Alongside the Degree Show, performing arts event KSA Live! will be taking place at the Rose Theatre on Wednesday June 12th where dance, drama and music students will display their talents through a series of performances. The ever-popular Fashion BA (Hons) catwalk show will be taking place at Shoreditch Town Hall in London, showcasing garments from students who will go on to influence looks on catwalks, in magazines and on high streets across the country.
