Leading Global Brand confident in the future of Oxford street with opening of Global Flagship store this week

“This new store design is one of the key ways in which we are communicating our brand story and it is not by chance that we are showcasing this first in London, our home and the city that inspires us and influences all we do across the world. Aside from London this year will see a number of openings in the US and across Europe. We are thrilled to open on Oxford Street, one of the most iconic shopping areas in the city which like London continually changes and adapts and will evolve again to be London’s most unique retail destination.” Neil Clifford, KURT GEIGER CEO

British accessories brand, Kurt Geiger, launches their flagship store in the centre of London’s west end shopping district, Oxford Street, a short distance from notorious British department store, Selfridges, and Regent Street.

Within the doors of the lofty 2,916 square foot space, is a new concept, that celebrates London’s creativity and individuality, envisioned by Kurt Geiger’s Chief Creative Officer Rebecca Farrar-Hockley and brought to life by architect Stefano Ripoli, formerly of David Collins Studio.

Offset by cool concrete ceilings and walls, retained from the inherited interior, Kurt Geiger’s playful British spirit and love of colour is evident throughout the new store. Rainbow-hued glass, reminiscent of stained-glass windows, frame the spaces. Illuminated antique brass shelving and display cases with eccentrically fringed accents hosts the full range of accessories, footwear and gifting for men and women. The focal point of the floor is without doubt the riotous colour of the brand’s rainbow played out in a quintessentially English floral print that plays over ceiling, walls and generous, bold, buttoned, low-slung furniture allowing customers to sit back and relax whilst exploring the new collections.

“It’s about showing customers exactly how I perceive the brand; I think the store immediately gives a real sense of us.” Rebecca Farrar-Hockley, KURT GEIGER Chief Creative Officer

Attention to detail is played through Kurt Geiger’s visual signatures which appear subtly throughout the store’s design. Antiqued brass eagles, the brand’s primary motif, feature on signage, door handles and internal cabinetry, which is quilted in the same parquet pattern as the leather goods.

Kind By Design is carved into the stone façade of the central service counter, reminding customers that they themselves fund the brand’s ability to bring positive change to young people’s lives.

At the store’s threshold, customers are greeted by “London” spelt out in mosaic tiles.
