A 122-home social housing scheme in Kidbrooke has been shortlisted for the 2025 Housing Design Awards, with the council also shortlisted for an AJ100 Award in relation to its work on the scheme.
The Housing Design Awards were established in 1948 by Nye Bevan in the same sitting of Parliament which launched the NHS, making them the longest-running housing awards in the country.
Kidbrooke Park Road North is the first phase of a scheme that will eventually deliver 452 council homes to be let at social rents to people on our Housing Register.
In a separate shortlisting the council is also in the running for ‘Client of the Year’ at the AJ100 awards in recognition of its work on the development. The nomination was put forward by HTA Design, the architects who worked on the Kidbrooke Park Road development.
A council spokesperson said: “It is Our Greenwich mission to ensure all our residents have access to a safe and secure home.
Being shortlisted for both the Housing Design and AJ100 Awards is recognition of the council’s strategy to create 1,750 new council homes across the borough for people on our housing register, and of its professionalism and effectiveness as a developer.
The new development at Kidbrooke Park Road is an example of what the council is achieving, with over 450 sustainable council homes for social rent, and the first 122 now complete. The council is proud to be in the driving seat of housing delivery.”
The first phase of the development at Kidbrooke Park Road consists of 122 one, two and three bedroom apartments and maisonettes, 12 of which are wheelchair adapted.
Also included are a new nursery, extensive landscaping with 69 newly planted trees and an innovative sustainable energy centre.
The second phase of the scheme at Kidbrooke Park Road South is currently under construction and will add a further 330 homes, as well as commercial space and landscaping including 100 new trees for a total of 169 across the development.
