In celebration of the Jewish festival of lights, Chanukah, the lastminute.com London Eye will light up with a glowing bespoke design showing golden lights flickering over London, representing the candles of the traditional menorah.
From dusk until dawn, the iconic attraction will illuminate the London skyline, honouring one of the most significant celebrations in the Jewish calendar. The word Chanukah means ‘dedication’, in line with the miracle of the Jewish people finding a flash of oil that stayed alight in the temple for eight days, even though it was only enough for one. The festival is celebrated by Jews worldwide, where it is customary to light a special candelabrum called a menorah. Each night of the eight-day festival, an additional candle is lit, representing each night that the oil continued to burn.
Robin Goodchild, Senior General Manager of the lastminute.com, said: “We’re thrilled to be marking the Jewish festival of lights again this year with another spectacular light-up representing the candles of the menorah. We’re honoured to join with the Jewish community in embracing this annual celebration. We wish a very Happy Chanukah to our guests, team and all those taking part in the holiday across London, the UK and beyond.”
