Laura Jackson kicks off kid’s clothes and book donations at Westfield’s Good Festival

TV presenter Laura Jackson launched the Westfield Good Festival, donating children’s books and clothes to its swap shop at Westfield Stratford City. Shedding light on concerning statistics from Westfield’s latest How We Shop research—like the fact that 40% of children’s books go unread and the average child’s wardrobe holds £125 worth of unworn clothes—the festival’s focus is on promoting sustainable consumption practices.

Running from 16th to 19th May at Westfield London, the festival showcases the latest sustainable shopping trends and emphasizes the impact of small changes on the environment. Alongside the swap shop, attendees can enjoy free clothing repairs by The Seam and art exhibits featuring creations from recycled sneakers by Helen Kirkum.

As part of the event lineup, Laura Jackson will be hosting an exclusive book reading tailored for preschoolers. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to bring their little ones to the Atrium, where they can join in and listen to Laura as she shares one of her favourite short stories during the sessions.

Tickets for the three storytelling sessions are available to purchase now for just £5 per ticket, all proceeds will be donated to Traid. The first session at 12:15pm can be purchased here, the second session at 1pm can be purchased here, and the final session at 1:45pm can be purchased here.

Among the festival’s highlights are a tranquil greenhouse oasis for nature reconnection and houseplant tips for enhancing living spaces, as well as sewing classes teaching creative repair techniques for beloved garments.

At its core, the festival aims to educate and empower attendees on sustainable fashion principles and the circular economy through complimentary clothing repair services, interactive workshops, and engaging discussions.
