Leading decorating and DIY specialist Leyland has continued its expansion by opening a new store in South Kensington.

Leyland has opened the doors to its 34th store in London, creating eight new jobs and increasing convenience for both tradespeople and DIY enthusiasts.

The South Kensington store is found at 67-69 Old Brompton Road.

Martin Hastings, CEO of Leyland, said the business was committed to a programme of investment to strengthen its offering across the capital, while boosting the local economy.

Martin said: “We are delighted to reveal our new South Kensington store, which has already been well received by both busy on-the-job tradespeople and people carrying out home improvements.

“At a time when other retailers are sadly having to close, we have demonstrated our commitment to continued growth. We are proud to have opened nine new stores in the last three years and have more in the pipeline in the coming years, alongside completing a significant revamp of our High Street Kensington store earlier this year.

“Our ethos is always to offer the ultimate convenience to people carrying out jobs in the local area, whether they’re professional tradespeople or DIYers. Everyone visiting can benefit from the expert knowledge and first-class service of our colleagues.

“We look forward to serving the local community.”

A ‘summer spectacular’ themed official opening of the store will take place on Wednesday July 24, when there will be special offers from big-name brands, games and giveaways available to all customers.

“Our opening events always create excitement in the area and we can’t wait to welcome our customers, both old and new, to see what we have to offer,” added Martin.

The eight new jobs have been created across all levels on the shopfloor.

Chris McCrossen has taken the reins as manager, moving from Leyland’s store in Fulham.

The South Kensington store will benefit from all the products Leyland is renowned for, including a vast selection of paints from leading brands with on-site colour mixing, decorating essentials, tools, hardware and timber.

The South Kensington store is the first Leyland store to have a Zinsser paint mixing machine, allowing customers to mix Zinsser specialist paints in thousands of colours. There is no need to pre-order or wait for a delivery – the paints are mixed while the customer waits.

Leyland South Kensington is open from 6.30am to 7pm Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 6pm on Saturday and 10.30am to 5pm on Sunday.

The Old Brompton Road building has been empty since Lloyds Bank moved out earlier this year.

Leyland has grown to become one of the most recognisable and trusted decorating and DIY companies in central London with stores in prominent locations across the city.
