Lidl GB has confirmed that it will be modernising its existing supermarket in Beddington Gardens, Wallington which will see an overall enhancement of the customer experience.
As part of the works, the store will undergo an extension to increase the sales area to provide a new in-store bakery and refurbished car park.
To enable the extension, the store will be closed from 8pm on Wednesday 21st September for around five months, with a view to reopening in Spring next year. Customers can continue to have access to the supermarket’s great value quality produce at its nearby stores on Purley Way, Croydon and Spinning wheel way, Sutton.
Store colleagues currently working at the supermarket will be reassigned to nearby Lidl stores until work is complete.
Lidl GB’s Regional Head of Property, Max Clapton, commented: “We’re pleased to be able to extend our Wallington store, so that we may bring the local community an even greater range of our much-loved produce, as well as deliver an enhanced shopping experience in-store. We would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding whilst we undertake these works.”
The refurbishment forms part of the company’s ongoing £1.3bn investment across the country in 2021 and 2022. Its ongoing success shows no signs of slowing, with Lidl GB now the 6th largest supermarket in the UK.
