Lift 109 hosting Skyline Photo School this September

Battersea Power Station’s chimney lift experience, Lift 109, is launching a new photography workshop for budding photographers.

The Skyline Photo School offers attendees a rare opportunity to hone their camera skills with a helping hand from London’s original rooftop photographer and the eye behind @londonfromtherooftops, James Burns, and capture the city’s skyline from the top of Battersea Power Station’s northwest chimney on Tuesday 9th, Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th September 2025.

Amateur photographers attending the school will learn practical techniques for low-light and nighttime photography and how to capture breathtaking images of London’s skyline from a unique vantage point, taking their images to new heights (literally!). Once they capture the perfect cityscape, they will return to ground level to learn about architecture photography too, taking pictures of Battersea Power Station’s striking Art Deco exterior in all its illuminated glory.

Host James Burns, who has spent over two decades documenting London’s rooftops through the lens, said: “London From The Rooftops is my mission and my ode to the city that I love and the city that made me who I am. Shooting at Battersea Power Station and Lift 109 offers one of the most spectacular perspectives of London and I can’t wait to share my process with others so they can take home their own cityscapes as love letters to this incredible city.”
