Barratt London has donated to London child poverty charity, Little Village, to help provide newborn essentials and much-needed support to local families. Founded in 2016, Little Village aims to have a positive impact on families with babies and young children living in poverty across London.
The £3,000 donation has been used to transport pre-loved newborn buggies to young families across the capital, as well as supporting the team of trained volunteers to call parents, who are often isolated and may need guidance and assistance.
Little Village is one of the four founding partners of the Baby Bank Alliance, providing vital support to families in local communities across the country, including critical supplies, connection and referral to additional help if needed.
Through its work sharing preloved goods from one family to another, the charity has supported more than 32,000 children.
Renata Acioli, baby bank manager at Little Village’s Brent hub comments: “We hear from families who are experiencing deepening poverty, and their needs are increasing. Every day, more families turn to us for support, and the challenges they face are worsening. Thanks to the generous funding from Barratt, we’ll be able to meet these urgent needs with nappies, clothing, and essential items for babies and young children who would otherwise go without..”
Yolanda Jacob, Sales and Marketing Director for Barratt East London, added: “It is extremely rewarding to support an impactful charity like Little Village. Creating a thriving community is one of Barratt London’s core values, and by partnering with key charities like this, we can ensure that families feel understood and get the support they need to thrive.
“Part of Barratt London’s Community Fund, this donation is under a scheme that aims to provide a donation monthly to local charities. Our goal is to support our developments’ communities and ensure that they are flourishing.”
