Residents at Magnolia Court Care Home in Child’s Hill, Hampstead, will be marking International Women’s Day (IWD) with a special celebration honouring trailblazing women throughout history.
Taking place annually on March 8, International Women’s Day is a global celebration of women’s rights and achievements. Officially recognised by the United Nations, the day highlights women’s contributions to society, raises awareness of the ongoing fight for gender equality, and encourages support for organisations that champion women around the world.
As part of the celebrations, residents and guests are invited to a special talk and Q&A session on Monday 2nd March at 3.00pm. The event will feature Helen Newman, CEO of Age UK Barnet, and Catherine Loveday, Professor of Psychology and memory expert.
During the session, they will discuss their professional journeys, reflect on how challenges and opportunities for women in their families have evolved over time, and share insights on the importance of female role models and mentors. They will also explore how challenges can be transformed into opportunities for growth and empowerment.
Wayne Hughes, General Manager at Magnolia Court Care Home, said:
“We are really looking forward to an interesting and inspiring afternoon from these two special women. It will be good to share our experiences, take stock and reflect on how much society has changed over the years.”
Magnolia Court’s varied life enrichment programme keeps residents active and engaged, offering a daily choice of physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to individual interests and abilities.
Anyone wishing to attend the International Women’s Day talk is encouraged to call 020 8731 9881 to reserve a place.
