Staff and residents from Barchester’s Magnolia Court care home, on Granville Road in Hampstead, are congratulating fellow resident, Judith Layte, on her starring role in Ed Sheeran’s new video for his hit song ‘England’. Judy, as she prefers to be known, was hand-picked by Ed Sheeran’s production company to take part in filming the video.
Judy was interviewed about her long and fascinating life travelling the world with her late husband and her thoughts and feelings about her life experiences, excerpts of her interview with the producers are sampled throughout the video. At 89, Judy has never been filmed before but she took it all in her stride and was delighted to be asked to contribute.
Commenting about the interview, Judy said: “It just goes to show, you never know what is around the corner! I was very surprised to be asked to be in Ed’s video but very happy to oblige, my grand-daughter is a huge fan and was so excited for me. I think you have to grab all life’s opportunities with both hands so when I was asked, I thought why ever not!”
Lenie Reyes-Terrado, General Manager at Magnolia Court, added: “What a fantastic experience for Judy, and one I’m sure she never thought would happen! When we were approached by Ed Sheeran’s production company, we were all very excited – several of our staff and residents are big fans, including myself! Judy thoroughly enjoyed being interviewed and loves the finished result – there’s not many people who can say they’ve starred in a music video at the age of 89!”
