Residents, staff, friends and family gathered at Wilsmere House care home in Harrow Weald to enjoy the home’s very own fun-packed version of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’. The Harrow-based home hosted a talent show featuring staff members showcasing their diverse skills through performances of singing, dancing, poetry recitals and cultural celebrations. Acts included music from artists such as Adele, Chuck Berry and Bob Marley to name just a few.
The competition was judged by: Lili Cocue, General Manager; Wayne Hughes, Regional Director; and John Baker, the home’s Resident Ambassador. Lili commented: “It was so much fun judging our wonderfully talented team, and I was happy not to need my buzzer to eliminate anyone! The smiles on everyone’s faces made all the planning and rehearsals worthwhile.”
Resident Ambassador, John Baker added: “Everyone looked amazing, and we unanimously agreed on the winner. I didn’t even recognise her, even though she works in reception and I see her every day. It was a great show – fun for the staff and the residents alike. I hope my bow tie looked alright.”
The judges crowned the home’s Administration Assistant, Melisa Findlay, as the overall winner for her outstanding performance of Alicia Keys’ ‘Falling’. Melisa shared: “After initially feeling nervous, I got on stage and suddenly felt a burst of energy when I saw everyone cheering me on. I haven’t sung in front of anyone for eight years, so this was a big deal for me. I didn’t enter to win, but it feels great knowing my performance was enjoyed so much.”
Wayne Hughes, Regional Director, summarised the evening by saying: “What an amazing night, seeing all the talent from residents, relatives, staff and especially all the hard work from the organisers. It made me very proud.”
