Forty‑four‑year‑old Sara Pozas, originally from Spain and now living in London, has become one of the faces of the national Skills for Life campaign, appearing in striking visuals that celebrate learners from every background.
Sara is a Level 6 Digital User Experience apprentice at Adoptstar, where she works on live projects to make digital products and websites more accessible for the people who use them. She is one of several learners chosen to front the national campaign, which highlights the people building their futures through practical, hands‑on learning.
As National Apprenticeship Week (9–15 February 2026) gets underway, Sara hopes her story will encourage more people — including career‑changers and parents — to explore apprenticeships as a route into a fast‑growing sector.
Sara shares:
“Becoming a UX apprentice has transformed my confidence and my career. I get to apply what I learn straight away, from improving accessibility to redesigning user journeys, and I see the real‑world impact of my work every day.
Switching careers while caring for my family felt daunting, but my apprenticeship has given me a route that fits my life and my ambitions.”
This year’s National Apprenticeship Week theme, ‘Real Skills for Real Jobs’, reflects the growing demand for digital talent in the capital, where London’s booming tech and creative industries contribute to an economy valued at more than £600bn.
Sara adds:
“If you want practical experience in a fast‑growing digital sector, an apprenticeship gives you the tools and confidence to build a career with purpose.”
The Skills for Life campaign, part of the Department for Education, aims to help people of all ages gain the work‑ready skills needed to succeed in today’s job market.
