A charity in London received a special delivery when the team from Amazon in Orpington made a £5,000 donation to support the positive impact it has on the local community.

The donation, made by the team at the Amazon delivery station in Orpington, was made to Free to be Kids. The charity uses nature, adventure and the power of the outdoors to support the
most disadvantaged children in London to transform their mental health.

Through providing targeted, outdoor-based residentials, children who’ve never left their area of London and whose school lives give them repeated messages of failure/low self-worth,
instead, lead night walks through the woods (leadership, responsibility), work in teams to canoe down rivers (teamwork, problem-solving), or climb a hill for the first time (broadened horizons, resilience) creating a healthier psychological story about oneself.

The donation will be used to purchase equipment for the charity’s impactful residential programmes such as tents, timber, spare outdoor clothing and bedding. The donation from Amazon
will support the charity for two camps.

Speaking on the donation, Amazon Orpington Delivery Station Manager said:

“We’re passionate supporters of organisations in our community that have a positive impact on the places where our employees live and work. Everyone at Amazon in Orpington is pleased
to support such an important organisation with this donation.”

Holly from Free to be Kids added:

“It’s fantastic to get this support from the team at Amazon in Orpington and I’d like to thank everyone at the delivery station for this donation.”

Community donations and employee volunteering are just two of the ways Amazon supports the communities where it operates. Amazon co-founded the Multibank
initiative with former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown to support families in need. The initiative has donated more than 12 million surplus goods to over 800,000 families across Scotland, Wales, Greater Manchester, London, Tees Valley and Birmingham.
This year, the Multibank will send 1 million orders to families across the UK.

Amazon has supported more than one million students across the UK with free STEM education programmes through
Amazon Future Engineer
and helps community organisations transport meals and other essentials to families in need through its pro bono logistics programme, Amazon Local Good.

Amazon partners with Comic Relief and is the official home of the charity’s iconic Red Nose. Together with its employees, customers, and partners, Amazon
has raised over £4.8 million to fund projects that support people across the UK, and around the world.
