Award-winning children’s early intervention charity Chance UK, has been chosen by Uxbridge-based employees at Mondelēz International to receive a donation.
Dedicated to supporting children experiencing emotional and behavioral difficulties, the charity will receive the grant from The Cadbury Foundation, as part of its ‘Your Charity Your Choice’ scheme.
With its vision for every child in the UK to feel happy about themselves, realise their potential and be confident in their ability to build a brighter future, Chance UK has been an advocate for early intervention for over 25 years.
Working with children and families throughout London, the charity helps children who are at risk of educational exclusion or have experienced numerous challenges and disadvantages in their young lives, as well as offering support to give children the tools to regulate their emotions and behaviour and increase resilience, confidence and self-esteem. Chance UK aims to empower children to develop skills, confidence and life aspirations through a one-to-one mentoring programme.
Each year, Mondelēz International’s UK employees are invited to nominate wellbeing-related charities or projects close to their hearts, with the final shortlisted charities voted for by the wider work force.
Felicity Newland, sales revenue planning manager at Mondelēz International, nominated the charity to receive the bursary. Felicity commented: “Over the past 12 months I’ve been mentoring a fantastic child through Chance UK and during this time, I truly believe it has not only changed their outlook on life, but also mine.
“Throughout my time with the charity, I’ve been able to witness the difference that Chance UK’s programmes can make, offering encouragement and support to so many children. The work they continue to do is life-changing and this grant will enable them to continue providing more brilliant work to those in need.”
Sophie Bainton, Head of Income Generation at Chance UK, said: “Being awarded this donation from The Cadbury Foundation means so much to our charity. The generous contribution allows us to continue to change vulnerable children’s lives in our local area by giving them the chance to enjoy regular one-to-one time with a dedicated mentor.”
The Cadbury Foundation, which is celebrating its 85th birthday this year, was set up in 1935 in recognition of Richard and George Cadbury and their investment in the welfare of their employees and the local community. Across all Mondelēz International UK sites, £90,000 will be pledged for the ‘Your Charity Your Choice’ campaign.
Kelly Farrell, community affairs manager at Mondelēz International, said: “We’re extremely proud to be able to support the charities that are important to our employees through our ‘Your Charity Your Choice’ scheme.
“Chance UK provides invaluable services to those in need in London and the surrounding boroughs, and we’re delighted to know that with The Cadbury Foundation’s help, they can continue providing vital help to their local community.”
