The lastminute.com London Eye will light up in red and gold on Thursday 8th February to celebrate Lunar New Year 2024 – the most important cultural celebration observed in China, and widely celebrated in South Korea, Vietnam, Singapore and other East Asian countries. The light-up this year is in partnership with the London Chinatown Chinese Association (LCCA) to signify the beginning of celebrations by the Chinese community in London and around the world.

To see in the Year of the Dragon the London Eye will light up in the auspicious colours of the New Year – red, believed to bring good fortune, and glowing gold, signifying wealth – shining out over London to wish everyone and their loved ones a prosperous, happy and healthy year ahead.

The Year of the Dragon symbolises good luck, health and strength. People born in the year of the Dragon are believed to possess natural courage, tenacity, and intelligence.

Imran Tauqir, General Manager at the lastminute.com London Eye, said: “As one of London’s most iconic landmarks we’re proud to join those celebrating Lunar New Year and fellow Londoners in marking the coming of the Year of the Dragon. We hope our light-up spreads hope and happiness across the city to all those celebrating this time-honoured East Asian tradition, and wish you all prosperity and wealth for 2024.”
