A grandfather from London was left speechless after winning a brand-new £32,000 car with £30,000 cash in the boot thanks to online competitions company, BOTB – botb.com/winners/mw0521
Brian Seifert, 76, from St Johns Wood was at home waiting for a grocery delivery when BOTB presenter Christian Williams video-called to tell him he was this week’s Midweek Car Competition winner and the proud new owner of a Honda e Advance.
“That is just the best news ever,” said Brian whose granddaughter, Mimi, plays Leanna in Emmerdale.
The retired designer, who paid just £1.20 for his ticket to enter the competition, played for the “odd but pretty car” because he lives in central London and being fully electric, the car doesn’t incur any congestion charge.
“I can’t believe it,” he added. “I spoke to my local car garage yesterday to ask them to find me an electric car and the next day Christian called me – it’s crazy!
“I played for the Honda e Advance in particular because it’s just so different and unique. You don’t see many of them on the roads!”
But it wasn’t just the new wheels that Brian had won in the competition, as Christian opened the boot to reveal a briefcase stuffed with £30,000 in cash, too.
“It’s just unbelievable,” Brian laughed. “I’ve never won anything before, I’m made up.”
Brian said the money would go towards a holiday to the Caribbean with his wife Sandra once restrictions were lifted and the rest would be split between his family.
“I have a daughter, Victoria, and son, Charles, who I’m sure will get a slice of the money to share with my five grandchildren.
“I’ve got five grandchildren – Mimi, 18, Will, 20, Lucy, 14, Ed, 12 and Olivia, 20. I’m so proud of them all, they are the best thing in my life.”
BOTB hands over the keys to two stunning cars each week as well as a lifestyle prize. Other recent winners have bagged a quad bike, a holiday to Las Vegas and a gaming tech bundle.
The company, listed on the stock market, was founded by William Hindmarch in 1999 and has given away more than £37m-worth of cars so far.
Christian, who surprises the BOTB winners each week, said: “Brian seems like such a lovely guy and he’s played for a great little car. The Honda paired with the cash makes for a fantastic start to the year. Massive congratulations once again!
