A school in has been recognised as in the top 10 per cent of schools nationally for student progress, according to the Educational Outcomes Awards.
St Mark’s Church of England Academy has won the award, which acknowledges the school as one of the highest-performing secondary schools in the country, based on 2024 performance data and Ofsted information. St Mark’s is part of the Anthem Schools Trust.
The awards measure students’ progress between the start of school and their exams at the end of Key Stage 4, in Year 11. Schools are judged on how far students have progressed from the start of their time at school in Year 7.
The awards, which are run by the SSAT (The Schools, Students and Teachers Network) compare all state-funded schools in England.
The award also comes off the back of St Mark’s being ranked as the second highest performing state school in the county for A Level outcomes.
To be recognised with an Educational Outcomes Award is a significant achievement and a testament to the work of the whole school community.
Hannah Fahey, principal of St Mark’s Church of England Academy, expressed her pride in the achievement, stating:
““We are committed to our infinite game of transformation at St Mark’s and will continue to serve every student to ensure they achieve their God given potential.”
Sue Williamson, Chief Executive of SSAT, also praised the academy, saying:
“Congratulations to St Mark’s Church of England Academy on winning an SSAT Educational Outcomes Award.
“This success is down to the superb learning and teaching, outstanding support, and inspirational leadership of staff. You have made a huge difference to the lives of the young people in your school. Thank you.”
This national recognition from SSAT affirms the academy’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and student progress.
