London shoppers can enjoy a free lunch at Sainsbury’s this January

Grey skies, a post-Christmas financial squeeze and the push to eat better can make January lunches feel like a chore. That’s why dairy adult cheese snacking brand SMUG DAIRY is stepping in and covering lunch for Sainsbury’s shoppers across London this January with a £5 “Lunch on SMUG” surprise – bringing a satisfying mid-week meal deal to be SMUG about.
SMUG DAIRY backed by Kerry Dairy Ireland, is celebrating the launch of its new Cheese & Crunch range at Sainsbury’s with a feel-good giveaway.
Now part of Sainsbury’s lunchtime meal deal, SMUG DAIRY is offering “LUNCH” in the form of a paid for meal deal for shoppers who pick up Cheese & Crunch Cheese Cubes with Sea Salt & Rosemary Crackers or Cheese & Crunch Cheese Cubes with Barbecue Corn Bites across select stores in January.
Designed for adults who want more from their snacks, SMUG Cheese & Crunch is designed to deliver a lunchtime snack upgrade that doesn’t feel like a compromise. It pairs real cheese with a crunchy accompaniment to create a truly satisfying, savoury bite that’s big on flavour while staying nutritionally balanced. Because while each pack delivers over 8g of protein, they sit under 150 calories – offering a more substantial choice to lower-calorie snacking.
The promotion runs from the 15th to the 29th of January. After purchasing a meal deal that includes Cheese & Crunch, SMUG representatives in store will hand out a teal envelope with a £5 note to cover the lunch. This will be available each Tuesday–Thursday in select stores including Sainsbury’s at Canon Street, London Euston Station and Leicester Square.
Anna Moore, Head of Strategy & New Growth Spaces at Kerry Dairy Ireland, said: “We know January lunches can feel a bit joyless – but they don’t have to be. It’s said there’s no such thing as a free lunch; now, even better, there’s a free lunchtime meal deal. SMUG Cheese & Crunch is all about satisfying snacking, and Lunch on SMUG is our way of giving shoppers a small but meaningful lift.”
Each 40g pack is priced at £1.30 and is available both individually and as part of Sainsbury’s meal deal – making it easy to feel SMUG about lunch this January.
