London Wetland Centre has launched a new programme of ‘Wetland Wellbeing Workshops’ for adults to learn new skills and enjoy more time in nature.
The workshops will run every month throughout 2025, and span a variety of hands-on activities – from shelter building and fire skills, to watercolour painting and more.
Ruth Thomas, Experience and Engagement Manager at London Wetland Centre, commented: “Spending time in nature, and particularly wetlands, is essential for maintaining our health and well being. In fact, just 10 minutes in a wetland setting can boost your mood.
“In today’s busy world, however, it can feel difficult to connect with nature instead of technology and enjoy a peaceful escape. We hope our new programme of workshops will encourage people to do this.”
“For just one hour each month, you can learn a new skill and immerse yourself in our beautiful wetland centre.”
Ruth added that early response to London Wetland Centre’s new programme of workshops has been incredibly positive, with the first three workshops already selling out in advance.
The next wellbeing workshop with availability will take place at London Wetland Centre on 26 April and cover foraging. Participants will learn to forage and cook with nettles and other edible leaves before enjoying nettle soup, nettle crisps and tea around a fire.
Tickets for each workshop cost just £5 and include admission to London Wetland Centre’s 105 acres of nature reserve featuring wetland habitats and an array of wildlife – some of which cannot be seen anywhere else in London.
