A recent study by HomeAway®, a global expert in family holiday rentals, reveals this Christmas, spending time with a well-known national treasures is at the top of many a Londoner’s Christmas wish list.
HomeAway discovered the Queen and Elton John are London’s preferred Christmas celebrity guests, with 20% of Brits saying they would love the much-loved national treasures to join them and their family for their Christmas celebrations.
Other celebs who made up the top five included:

2. David Attenborough (17%)
3. Michael Bublé and Ant and Dec (16%)
4. Holly Willoughby (14%)
5. Jools Holland (13%)

So where do Londoner’s want to take their favourite celebs for Christmas? With the notorious grey skies and gloomy winter weather we get in the UK, it’s no surprise that when asked where Brits would choose if going away over Christmas 45% would opt for hotter climes in the form of a sunny beach resort. City breaks were also a popular choice amongst Londoners (33%), with over a quarter (28%) saying that they would enjoy a relaxing break in the mountains.
The research also revealed the locations which Londoners associated with being the most ‘Christmassy’. Santa Claus’ Village in Lapland came out on top, with 38% saying the popular family destination represents the ‘Christmas feeling’ the most. The North Pole (31%) and Iceland (28%) were also top amongst Christmassy holiday destinations.
When travelling with the family over the Christmas period, Londoners feel it is important to pack the Christmas essentials to ensure a Christmas away from home feels just the same. The findings revealed the ‘must-have’ items Brits could never travel without over Christmas include presents (39%) and Christmas food such as mince pies (24%).
