It wouldn’t be summer in London without an al fresco movie night at King’s Cross with an ice cream and drink or two in hand. Everyman is delighted to be bringing its much-loved free outdoor film and TV festival, Everyman on the Canal, back to the capital, landing at the canal Side Steps at King’s Cross from 30th June 2025 through to 17th August 2025.
Everyman invites audiences to soak up the best of the Great British Summer at Granary Square. Bringing the brand’s elevated approach to cinema to the water’s edge, Everyman on the Canal will show screenings of the latest film releases to all-time favourites, host special live events, Q&As and surprise screenings and for the first time, will present live DJ music sessions.
For summer 2025, Everyman is delighted to have collaborated with renowned British multidisciplinary artist, designer and ‘architect of joy’, Yinka Ilori MBE, to conceptualise and create a unique screen design for Everyman on the Canal, which echoes his heritage and draws inspiration from his favourite animated films. Inspired by the worlds, journeys and relationships explored in Walt Disney’s films, Ilori’s patterns on the screen embrace elements of nature and floral motifs which reflect the feelings of escapism generated by being immersed in the cartoon world. To celebrate and accompany the exclusive screen design, Yinka Ilori has curated a selection of Disney screenings which will be shown at Everyman on the Canal this summer, all inspired by the filmmaker’s famous words ‘all our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them’.
Yinka Ilori said about the partnership, “I’ve always loved film as it offers an opportunity to explore new worlds and cultures, which is why I am so excited to be partnering with Everyman on the visual theme of their outdoor screening series this summer. My design is partly inspired by the fantastical landscapes of Walt Disney movies, which I’ve always felt were incredibly transportive. I hope it enhances the overall viewing experience, that audiences feel thoroughly immersed in both art and film, and that it fosters a sense of community and joy.”
Alongside a host of films including Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Grease, Parent Trap, Top Gun: Maverick, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Encanto, audiences will also be able to enjoy the Wimbledon Tennis Championships to embrace the on-court action on the big screen. Of course the outdoor film experience is not complete without mouth-watering sweet treats and savoury snacks from Everyman’s food menu, including special sundaes, paired with a drink or two from the range of summer cocktails, wine, beer and soft drinks.
Everyman on the Canal is a highlight of the free and affordable annual summer festivities at King’s Cross which transforms into a chic urban oasis by the water from mid-June. New for 2025 is the Sounds of the Riviera series which is celebrating all things music with a sizzling eight week line-up of music themed events, family activities and film screenings.
