LONDON’S FIRST ITALIAN ‘GASTRO-BAKERY’ TO OPEN THIS SPRING

London’s new artisan Sicilian ‘gastro-bakery’, Soffice, is opening this Spring in the heart of Putney, just in time for the famous Boat Race – one of the most iconic events in the sports world. From all-out foodies to pastry and pasta lovers, or rowing fans to those obsessed with Italian cuisine, discover a new breed of Sicilian dining with Soffice.

Launching in April 2022, Soffice is the capital’s first Italian restaurant to pioneer a new ‘gastro-bakery’ culinary approach – the gastronomical art of using its fresh products which are available to buy via its bakery/deli, in the creation of its bespoke dishes for guests dining in. To celebrate its opening, Soffice is giving away 150 free fresh pasta bowls* to give foodies a taste of the unique Sicilian flavours.

Soffice boasts a carefully-curated all-day menu, featuring authentic Sicilian dishes including a selection of antipasti, charcuterie, fresh pasta, pizzas, pan brioche stuffed with fresh ingredients, sweet pastries and desserts. Options are available for vegetarians, vegans and non-gluten diets too. The bakery will also serve speciality roasted coffees, cocktails, craft beers and wines from Sicily and various regions in Italy.

SIGNATURE DISHES

Antipasti – Carpaccio di Tonno, Thin Sliced Tuna marinated with Fresh Herbs in Lemon and Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Pasta Fresca – Citrus Pesto e Gamberetti, Lemon & Orange, Toasted Almonds, EVOO, Capers Pecorino and Marinated Prawns

Tavola Calda – Arancina, Stuffed Saffron Rice Deep Fried with Sicilian ragù, Burro and Ham and Spinach and Besciamella

Desserts – Pistachio Tiramisu, the perfect Italian dessert with a Sicilian twist: Creamy Pistachio Filling, Mascarpone Cream and Italian Sponge

Based in Putney, Soffice will offer a unique Sicilian-style dining experience with a modern and contemporary twist, promising to use only the finest quality of ingredients from local producers and suppliers from Sicily (and other regions in Italy). From classic recipes to new-age kitchen adventures, each dish reflects passion for high-quality cuisine whilst paying homage to the Founder’s Sicilian roots.

Soffice is the brainchild of Giuseppe Tuttoilmondo, a passionate restaurateur with over 20 years’ experience in the hospitality industry including key roles at Norma London, D&D London and Zelman Meats. Giuseppe dreamt the concept of Sofficé in mid 2020 when the Covid-19 pandemic was still having a major ripple effect on the UK’s hospitality sector. After years of dedication and experience of food and beverage around the world, Giuseppe mastered the craft of artisan Italian cuisine and his goal is to provide Londoners with a unique dining experience, encompassing a passionate culinary art inspired by Sicily.

Soffice will open for dine-in on Saturday 2nd April and can be found on 236 Upper Richmond Road, SW15 6TG. Opening hours are Monday – Saturday from 8am to 11pm and Sunday from 9am to 5pm.
