Carers Network is an independent charity with a proud 30-year history supporting unpaid carers aged 18 and over in the City of Westminster. Our carers support family members and friends who have a disability, a mental or physical illness or need extra help as they grow older.

On Thursday 9 June, during Carers Week, Carers Network celebrated their 30th anniversary with an afternoon reception for carers hosted by The Right Worshipful The Lord Mayor of Westminster, Cllr Hamza Taouzzale in The Lord Mayor’s Parlour at Westminster City Hall.

Here, The Lord Mayor of Westminster personally thanked carers for their contribution to the local community, particularly during the pandemic, and joined with everyone in celebrating the vital role unpaid carers play in the City of Westminster.

Following the Lord Mayor’s speech, the one hundred local unpaid carers attending were able to enjoy a special 30th birthday cake.

As part of the celebrations, local carers also exhibited their artwork, crafting, creative writing and poetry that they have produced in a number of activity groups Carers Network has recently been running.

“We were delighted that The Lord Mayor hosted a special afternoon tea for our Westminster carers. Carers Network has been privileged to support unpaid family carers in Westminster for 30 years.” Sally Prentice, CEO
