Former Love Island star Lucie Rose Donlan has been awarded the accolade of Best Eco/Environmental Influencer at the National Social Media Awards Sponsored by The Hidden Sea Wine.
Lucie said: “Winning this award means the world to me. I am so excited that my work has finally been recognised. I think it’s so important to guide the younger generation to make more sustainable choices where possible and what better way to do that than through the power of social media.”
Hundreds of celebrities and influencers turned out in force to celebrate the second annual National Social Media Awards, this week at London’s Proud Embankment and every picture taken took 100 plastic bottles out of the ocean. Presented by former Dancing on Ice star Alex Murphy, the celebrity line-up included Comedian Dapper Laughs, Reality Star Stevi Ritchie, TV Presenter and Fashion Influencer Naomi Isted, and GB News Presenter Ellie Costello.
Out in fashionable force, the awards are the first and only publicly voted for social media awards and recognises influencers and celebrities for their contribution across social media on the platforms that connect all of us.
This year, UK celebs and influencers had the power to take 100 plastic bottles from the ocean every time they used their power at the event. Pictures tagging The Hidden Sea – the premium Australian wine on a mission to take one billion plastic bottles from the ocean by 2030 – took an estimated 5000 out of the ocean in a wave of collective action by some of the country’s most influential people.
Joining a host of guests on the red carpet was Benjamin Von Wong’s award winning, 30-foot-tall “Giant Plastic Tap”, which is on tour with The Hidden Sea wine in 2022 to show how dire the plastic situation is and call for those that have the ability to make change, to take responsibility.
