· Nick’s wife, Lisa, died of ovarian cancer in summer 2023.

The goal was to raise £50,000 for sponsor a scientist at the Ovarian Cancer Action Research Centre in memory of his late wife, Lisa. After 30 happy years of marriage Lisa sadly passed away in summer 2023 after living with cancer for eight years. They have currently raised £56,998.

Of his epic adventure Nick says, “I walked 3,000 miles in memory of Lisa in the hope that ovarian cancer will be survivable for future generations. Endless miles, terrible weather and conditions have been rewarded by kind and generous donations by strangers. It’s been humbling and heartwarming to reflect and share our story.”

Ovarian cancer has the lowest survival rates amongst all five gynaecological cancers, with just 1 in 3 women living more than five years after diagnosis. In the UK it kills a woman once every two hours. Survival is more likely if it’s caught early, but there is currently no screening tool and symptoms can often be mistaken for other minor illnesses.

Ovarian Cancer Action working to better prevent, treat and detect ovarian cancer, so that by 2032 at least half of women with ovarian cancer live for 10 years. The charity has invested more than £12.7 million in life-saving research. This includes projects its own research centre at Imperial College London.
