Singing sensation Mabel blew London commuters away in Piccadilly Circus yesterday morning with a surprise performance of her Christmas single, a cover of Cyndi Lauper’s Time After Time. She took to the famous busking spot as part of McDonald’s Reindeer Ready campaign, to the delight of passers-by who formed a crowd to take in the special performance.

Mabel surprised three McDonald’s crew members who were busking the hit single against the backdrop of the Eros Statue, stunning commuters and tourists with the surprise appearance.

The set was stripped back to a gorgeous keyboard melody to continue McDonald’s #ReindeerReady celebrations, aiming to get everyone in early festive spirits. The iconic 80’s track ‘Time After Time’ features in McDonald’s Christmas advert ‘Imaginary Iggy’ that perfectly evokes the theme of never being too old to make believe.

Michelle Graham-Clare, Chief Marketing Officer at McDonald’s UK&I said: “Today’s breath-taking performance from Mabel is another step on our journey to getting the nation #ReindeerReady. The track is climbing the charts, raising a fantastic amount of money for FareShare and is the perfect accompaniment to our Imaginary Iggy advert. I am delighted we were able to showcase the singing talents of some of our brilliant restaurant employees, giving them an unforgettable experience of performing live with a Brit Award Winner!”

Mabel will be donating 10p from every download of her new Christmas single to food charity, FareShare. McDonald’s will also be donating funding to enable FareShare to redistribute five million meals to families most in need this Christmas.

Mabel said: “It was so fun to surprise the unsuspecting carol singers and the joy on their faces was memorable! I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did. I loved covering Cyndi Lauper’s timeless classic for the single and the fact 10p from each download is going to help families at their time of need makes it so worthwhile.”
