Choosing gifts for Generation Alpha is no easy task. With kids growing up so fast and developing their personalities and preferences, parents have a tough job keeping up with what they love. What was cool back in the noughties, may not quite cut it for the new generation.
Natasha Lawless from Hyde in Tameside, Greater Manchester, took her daughter’s obsession with ducks and found inspiration for her little girl’s birthday surprise. She transformed her bathroom into a duck-themed playground for £35 with Temu finds, creating a birthday gift to remember.
Like many parents, Natasha tries to save wherever possible. She found it hard to justify the pricey bathroom decor found in some retailers. As a result, she turned to the bargain marketplace Temu for towels, a shower curtain, and accessories, paying half of what she would have shelled out elsewhere.
Natasha had shopped with Temu before and knew the ‘one-stop shop’ would have all the bathroom supplies she needed for the grand makeover. “I knew straight away that Temu would have pretty much everything I needed,” she said.
“It’s not just the price, but there’s such a huge choice of things that you just won’t find anywhere else,” she said. “I defy anyone to not find something they like on there!”
What Natasha bought:
- Shower curtain – £4.99
- Duck towel – £2.49
- Duck sign – £1.79
- Duck bathroom accessories – between £0.49 and £2.99
- Duck stickers – £.099 a pack x 2
- Yellow bin – £4.99
- Duck toilet brush – £1.99
“The quality always blows me away… I’ve been using Temu for over a year now and it just gets better.”
The real star buy for Natasha was the shower curtain. She describes the quality of the curtain as impressive, given it’s half the price of similar products online. The quality of the bath mat and duck stickers also (pleasantly) surprised her. Natasha used two packets of stickers across the entire bathroom, including the bin and mirror – brightening the space for the cost of a few pennies.
And the result of the birthday surprise?
“My daughter was so surprised and happy. She couldn’t believe her eyes,” Natasha recalled. “She kept picking things up and looking at them and then discovering something else she hasn’t noticed.”
According to Natasha, websites like Temu are great for themes, be it parties or redecorating a room, as they cover all the bases.
Natasha now encourages other parents to shop around to create lasting memories on a budget. Next up: renovating her daughter’s bedroom.
“I’m currently redesigning my daughter’s bedroom, and she wants it sage green. I’ve found lots of bits on Temu that fit the bill. Be it bits for parties or redecorating a room in the house – I’m spoilt for choice.” she says.
