Electric Group, the UK’s fastest growing music venue operator behind iconic spaces like Electric Brixton and NX Newcastle, announces the rebranding of SWX Bristol to Electric Bristol.

This exciting new chapter cements the venue’s status as a key player in the UK’s live touring music scene and the new Electric Bristol will soon become a landmark events space for the South West.

Famous for its programme of live gigs which is continuing, it is intended that Electric Bristol will host an eclectic programme of club nights working in collaboration with the best promoters, brands, labels across dance genres to compliment the live diary. With a new, major investment in stage production, the new Electric Bristol will be a production complete events space for the South West, leveraging the venue’s illustrious past, with its unique ball-room layout, stage, unbeatable sight-lines and acoustics, state-of-the-art sound and lighting system.

Following on from Electric’s incredibly successful refurbishment and reimagination of the former O2 Academy Newcastle as NX, now the leading music and club events space in the North East hosting the biggest acts and dance music brands, Electric Group hope to present the biggest dance acts in the new Electric Bristol.

Located centrally on Nelson Street, Electric Bristol will continue its legacy of hosting cutting-edge live music performances and late nights, with a reputation as one of the South West’s premier music destinations and community staple. The relaunch underscores Electric Group’s commitment to independently operating high-quality music venues, providing a platform for both emerging and established artists to shine.

CEO and co-founder of Electric Group Dominic Madden said: ‘It’s so important that music venues evolve with the times, and we are committed to putting the artist and fan, front and centre of what we do. The rebranding of SWX as Electric Bristol is a natural progression for the iconic Nelson Street building and we look forward to Mike Weller’s unique, curated approach to late night programming and continuing to host all those amazing gigs for which the building is now so famous’.

Electric Group’s Head of Music, Mike Weller, said: “The venue’s upcoming live programming includes a diverse range of artists and events, from the much-anticipated Dot 2 Dot Festival to performances by acclaimed acts such as Magdalena Bay, Waxahatchee, Blondshell, Nova Twins, and many more. We have a very exciting programme of club events and I look forward to announcing this over the summer, to launch in September 2025.”
