Visitors to the Natural History Museum this Christmas season will be in for a festive fright, as the Museum today unveiled its famous giant animatronic Tyrannosaurus Rex sporting its 2023 Christmas jumper.
Intrigued as to how a T-Rex would wear a giant Christmas jumper? Look no further than the Museum’s dinosaur gallery. In what has become an annual tradition for the Museum, the life-size T-Rex will be modelling the merry garment throughout the Christmas period in a beautifully curated Christmas display.
This year’s ferociously festive design features some of the Museum’s most beloved dino skeletons. Namely, Stegosaurus, Tyrannosaurus Rex – and Patagotitan Mayorum Mo, one of the largest known creatures to have ever walked our planet and the star of the Museum’s current exhibition, Titanosaur: Life as the Biggest Dinosaur.
The warm winter knitwear woolie has been exclusively created for the Museum by Jack Masters, a family-owned business based in Leicester. These garments have been crafted with exclusively sustainable materials – a blend of 60% recycled cotton and 40% recycled polyester, the latter made from locally recycled plastic bottles.
The Natural History Museum’s Sam Barnes, Retail Commercial Manager, and Francesca Peroni, Visual Merchandiser, said: “We’re delighted to unveil this year’s exclusive Christmas jumper on one of our most famous prehistoric inhabitants! Thanks to Jack Masters and KGX Genix for bringing our frightfully festive display to life. Our Christmas T-Rex is free for all to see and experience into the New Year and all proceeds from our Christmas jumper range will continue to support our amazing public programmes and scientific work.”
Available to purchase in the Museum store and online in unisex adult (£40) and children (£30) sizes, the jumper is a must-have for the whole family this Christmas. Unisex Christmas scarves, hats and socks are also available.
Every purchase from the Natural History Museum shop and online store helps to support the Museum’s 350 scientists and their vital work, including finding solutions to the planetary emergency.
