Alongside our colleagues at the University of Greenwich, we really enjoyed showing off the excellent work that takes place at the university, showcasing our amazing facilities, and, of course, engaging in conversations with our local community members.’

Attendees were taken on a tour of the campus where they were shown the edible garden space by Head of Sustainability, Simon Goldsmith who reminded all that anyone is welcome to come and volunteer with the upkeep of the garden and use the space for the benefit their mental health.

The tour then continued to the state-of-the-art healthcare simulation facilities before hearing from the University of Greenwich big band over tea and cake.

Councillor Pat Greenwell said:

‘It has been an absolute pleasure working with the University of Greenwich to organise this event and I thank all involved.

‘The Avery Hill campus forms a large part of the local community and this event was an opportunity for residents to meet with the university and see the amazing facilities and work they are doing. We all enjoyed the opportunity to engage with staff over Tea and cakes afterwards.’

Councillor Lauren Dingsdale said:

‘It was wonderful for the university to open its doors to the local community and showcase the cutting-edge facilities which are helping to train our future frontline medical professionals. I’m really looking forward to the next one.’
