A newly enhanced version of the Homes for Londoners portal, the Mayor of London’s official property portal, has recently launched, offering Londoners easier access to affordable homeownership options across the capital.

The new portal, which is being delivered by Share to Buy, the UK’s leading portal for affordable homeownership, in partnership with the Mayor, streamlines the property search process for Londoners seeking an affordable home through housing schemes, including Shared Ownership, London Living Rent, Discount Market Sale, and Older Persons Shared Ownership.

It is a one-stop shop bringing affordable home options together to support Londoners towards homeownership and includes new features such as in-built affordability calculators on every listing.

Offering Londoners an intuitive and accessible user journey, the new portal brings together trusted providers, expert resources and helpful tools all in one place. Whether buying or renting, Homes for Londoners serves as a central platform where users can search, compare and enquire about affordable properties across the capital, including Shared Ownership and London Living Rent homes.

Available homes span the London Boroughs, with a range of properties suitable for a variety of buyers and renters, from studio flats in Zone 1 to larger family houses in Zone 6.

The portal lists homes from some of the capital’s biggest names in housebuilding, including housing associations, private developers and local authorities.

Nick Lieb, Chief Operations Officer at Share to Buy, comments: “The capital is currently facing a housing crisis – rents are high, stock across the board is low, and buying is out of reach for many. That’s why the new Homes for Londoners portal is so important. By combining the scale and functionality of Share to Buy with the reach and trust of Homes for Londoners, we can provide a more streamlined, user-friendly experience that genuinely helps more people take a step towards homeownership.”

Tom Copley, Deputy Mayor for Housing and Residential Development, comments: “Tackling our urgent housing crisis is my top priority. The Mayor and I are doing everything we can to deliver more homes of all tenures, building on the progress which has already been made, with more new council homes started in London than at any time since the 1970s and, prior to the pandemic, more new homes completed than any time since the 1930s.

“The Mayor’s enhanced property portal will help to connect Londoners to affordable homes and provide much-needed guidance on the housing schemes, as well as useful tools such as in-built affordability calculators on every listing. At a time when London’s housing market is facing significant challenges, it’s more important than ever that Londoners have clear, reliable information on the options available to them, as we build a better and fairer London for everyone.”
