This new experience, launching today at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter, is designed for those who want to step deeper into the fascinating world of filmmaking.
Running on select dates in March and April 2026 for 30 guests per session, Mastering the Magic: Costume Creation – invites fans to discover the secrets behind the spellbinding world of costume design, learning how the choice of fabrics, colour and fit play a vital role in bringing a character to life.
The exclusive 45-minute sessions explore some of the wizarding world’s most iconic costumes. From the evolving styles of Hogwarts uniforms to Cedric Diggory’s Triwizard robes and Hagrid’s oversized attire, visitors will get an up-close look at original outfits from the beloved films, including rare behind-the-scenes pieces and subtle design details rarely seen by the public.
Visitors will also uncover fascinating costume secrets, such as how the seven horcruxes are hinted at through the colours of Voldemort’s robes, the unexpected true colour of Severus Snape’s suit, and the hidden meaning in Narcissa Malfoy’s coat. Highlights also include Luna Lovegood’s whimsical party dress, designed to resemble a Christmas tree, and Sirius Black’s distinctive coat, textured to subtly foreshadow his Animagus form.
The costume worn by Harry Potter when fans are first introduced to him in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year will be showcased in all its glory during the sessions. In addition, Minerva McGonagall’s hat, a Death Eater mask, Mad-Eye Moody’s coat and Professor Sprout’s botanical-inspired collar will also be on display for visitors to admire.
Crafted for those with curious minds and sharp eyes, the workshop is led by experts and delves into the art of storytelling through costume. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or an aspiring designer, Mastering the Magic: Costume Creation promises a one-of-a-kind journey into the creative heart of the Harry Potter film series.
