The National Football League has announced the return of its NFL Flag Championship Europe on Monday, Oct. 6. The one-day Flag football event will see U15 all-girls teams from across Europe compete at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – the only purpose-built stadium for the NFL outside of the U.S.

In 2025, six countries will compete, with Ireland joining the 2024 participants, Great Britain, Germany, France, Austria, and reigning champions, Spain, in an expanded format. As part of their experience in London, the teams will also be treated to a special gameday experience at the first of the 2025 NFL London Games matchups between the Cleveland Browns and Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Oct.5.

NFL Flag is the official flag football program of the NFL with programs active in 12 markets around the world – connecting young athletes with the sport at the grassroots level.

“We are so pleased to be able to bring these talented young female athletes together from across Europe to showcase their skills in London”, said Vice President, Flag Football at the NFL Stephanie Kwok. “It’s an incredibly exciting time for Flag football globally, with the number of women and girls discovering and connecting with the sport at all levels continuing to grow at a strong pace. All the teams travelling to London has achieved great success in their home countries, and we wish them the best of luck when they take to the field”
Each team will represent an NFL club with Global Markets Program rights in their respective countries. The Global Markets Program allows NFL teams to have marketing rights in territories outside of the U.S. to continue to grow fandom across the world.

The young female athletes will also receive incredible support from the sidelines, with Global Flag Ambassadors from across Europe set to attend including: Phoebe Schecter (Great Britain), Mona Stevens (Germany) and Elisa De Santis (France), with former Chiefs punter Dustin Colquitt also available for interview as a part of the event.

Flag football will be played at the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028, and is the world’s fastest-growing sport, played by over 20 million people in more than 100 countries. It is the most inclusive and accessible format of American football, played by people of all ages and genders, with female athletes driving some of the fastest growth. Fast, highly accessible and inclusive, the non-contact format of the game is spearheading extraordinary growth in participation globally.
The International Federation of American Football (IFAF) and the National Football League are investing in the development and growth of flag football at both grassroots and elite levels worldwide.
