As one of the major highlights in the borough’s calendar, the Wandsworth Moves Together Awards recognises the outstanding achievements of local people, clubs, teams and schools for encouraging sport and physical activity.

The Awards will shine a light on the dedication of coaches, volunteers, and organisations for their commitment to helping local people achieve their goals, regardless of age, ability, or financial situation in 2024.

The Council is committed to making leisure and wellbeing more accessible and affordable for all through its Wandsworth Moves Together strategy and ambitious Access for All scheme. Formerly known as the Active Wandsworth Awards, these awards spotlight those helping achieve these same ambitions in their community by inspiring others to get and stay active.

Now in its 26th year, previous awards have recognised hundreds of amazing local people and crowned some exceptional athletes, including Commonwealth Games winners Joaquin and Javier Bello, England rugby star Kyle Sinckler, and Olympic athletes Katie Snowden and Steph Davis.

This year, we are excited to introduce the Access for All Award which recognises a physical activity project that has increased activity levels, improved the health of Wandsworth’s residents and strived to break down barriers, making physical activity and sport accessible to all.

As part of Access for All, Wandsworth Council has ambitious plans to make sport, leisure and council services affordable and accessible to all residents. So far, more than 50,000 free bookings have been made at Wandsworth Leisure Centres.

Judi Gasser, Cabinet Member for Environment, said: “The Wandsworth Moves Together Awards provides a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the individuals and organisations that make a real difference in our community.

“By recognising their achievements, we not only honour their dedication but also inspire others to get involved in physical activity.

“If this sounds like someone you know, please nominate them today and help us give them the recognition they deserve.”

Over 200 people from across Wandsworth will attend the awards evening, hosted by Sky Sports presenter Emma Paton, taking place on Friday 25 April 2025 at the Wandsworth Civic Suite.

Do you know someone who helps others move more, or who has been incredibly successful in their own sport in 2024?

Perhaps you have been inspired to become more active or know of someone who has removed barriers to make physical activity a reality for you?
