The secret’s out! Norman Jay MBE will headline an exciting family-friendly line-up at Together 23 on Saturday 10 June. Awarded an MBE for services to deejaying and music, there’s no one better than Norman Jay to take to the stage in our royal borough. The co-founder of KISS FM and a pioneer of the ‘Rare Groove’ scene will bring his blend of soul, jazz and dance to close the show with a bang!
The Royal Borough of Greenwich is bringing the free festival back to Charlton Park from 12 noon to 6pm, with a packed programme of live performances, activities, sports food and drink stalls and more.
Councillor Adel Khaireh, Cabinet Member for Equality, Culture and Communities, said: “Every year, our family festival unites our communities for a free day of fun and I’m thrilled to be bringing the celebrations back to Charlton Park for a third time.
“We’ve got a fantastic line-up this year. From DJ Norman Jay and Parklife, to arts, crafts and Boppin’ Bunnies, there’s something for everyone. Get to know your local community groups and as always, our market village will be filled with local traders to try out. Last year our LGBTQ+ Pride tent was a highlight – so if I go missing on the day, you know where to find me.
“Get the date in the diary and bring the whole family along for a summer day of fun this June – I’ll see you there!”
Start the day with a sing along with community Choir, Woolwich Singers, while children’s band, C7 will keep budding rock stars entertained.
MOBO Award winning rapper and singer, Lady Marga MC will get everyone up on their feet. The East Londoner has collaborated with the likes of Jason DeRulo, Basement Jaxx and is sure to get the party started.
For soul fans, singer/songwriter Lewis Land will keep things smooth with his unique brand of jazzy R ‘n’ B.
South-East London collective, Groove 101 will return following an energetic set at least year’s Platinum Picnic in the Park. Covering classic party tunes from across the decades, they’re sure to have something for get everyone up on their feet.
Take a trip back to the mid 90s with Parklife, who’ll bring us a catalogue of classic Britpop tunes, from Oasis and Blur to Manic Street Preachers to Suede and the Charlatans. Don’t forget your best parka and bucket hat!
There’ll be plenty to keep the little ones busy too. As well as a mix of dance, music and theatre performances, explore Kids’ Town where you’ll find arts and crafts, drumming workshops and meet Farrah the Fox as part Emergency Exit Arts Royal Greenwich Festivals funded project, Fox Park.
Try your hand at a range of sports with GLL in the Greenwich Get Active zone, and don’t forget to check out our LGBTQ+ Pride tent, sponsored by the University of Greenwich.
